Hi everyone! Deciding on our creative project for this week was really easy…with Valentine’s Day just around the corner we decided to put out our Valentine’s Day decorations!
We like to decorate the mantel above our fireplace and change it with the seasons and holidays. Here it is after we finished this week:
Since we change the mantel decor so much, this was all stuff we already had. When we decorate the mantel, a lot of times I’ll just use the same candleholders and vases and then change out the candles and flowers in different colors to match the seasons.
The frames on the mantel were another quick and easy thing to do and something that Ashley came up with. We bought Valentine’s card kits from Michael’s and after Ashley assembled them we put them into the frames:
In the larger silver frame, we made a heart craft from scraps of paper we had on hand. It was super easy and quick!!! Here’s how to do it: 1) Draw a heart on 8-1/2 x 11″ white corrugated card stock; 2) tear up white, pink, red and patterned scrap paper into tiny pieces and glue them inside the heart; and 3) outline the heart with silver glitter:
I like to change out my entry way too, so we put a few splashes of red items out and the cutest little owl that we bought from Pier One:
It seems we are definitely into owls lately!!!
The holidays and seasons definitely spark our creativity bug, so thanks Cupid for being our muse this week!!!
