Week 19: Mantel Time

Week 19: Mantel Time

Hi all, well last week here in Virginia was SOL time.  Now I know some of you may be thinking that acronym means one thing, but the SOL I’m referring to has nothing to do with luck!  I’m talking about the Standards of Learning standardized tests that are given each May here in all the VA public schools.  Needless to say, there was a lot more studying that creating last week, although Ashley did get quite creative at times thinking of ways to get out of studying!!!  While I’m happy to report that she did well on all her tests, unfortunately we only had about a half hour last week to work on our Sub52 creative challenge.

In that half hour, we did manage to finally take down our Easter decorations and put out some items for our summer time mantel.  I was thinking a beach/vintage theme would be fun, so we added to some of the items we already had on hand with a few new things from Home Goods, which fortunately, is only a few minutes away from our house.  (I know, we’re REALLY lucky to be so close to Home Goods, but sometimes it can be a little dangerous to the old wallet!)

We were shooting for a beach/vintage theme and here’s what we ended up with:

I’m still trying to decide if I like it, but at least we’re a little bit closer to some summertime fun over here!

After my busy week at work, and Ashley’s busy week testing, we are REALLY ready to do some major creating this upcoming Memorial Day weekend, so we’l see you soon!
