Hi all, like many of you I’m sure, we’re HUGE fans of Fall in our house. We get giddy thinking about the crisp Fall air making its way into September, the smell of savory soups simmering on the stove, the leaves changing into their beautiful crimson and orange hues, and yummy Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Lattes (the infamous PSLs)! So the second the air starts hinting at getting a little bit cooler, we are thinking of a Fall, yes, but we’re also thinking about something even better…FALL CRAFTS!!!
At the end of August, we were lucky enough to have a little stint of some unseasonably cool days. Ashley and I immediately got to thinking and talking about Fall clothing and decorating. Ashley then had a great idea…combine those 2 things and make a “Sweater Weather” plaque for her room. Wah lah! Our weekly craft was decided!
So we trotted off to AC Moore to buy a wood plaque and some stencils to make the letters. After looking at several of the stencils, Ashley decided she liked the Martha Stewart Looped Script alphabet stencils:
Then came the hard part…what colors to use for the plaque??? You see, we sort of had a tall order: We needed this plaque-to-be to work with the bright white, orange and pink pillows that we made for Ashley’s room over the summer. Ashley also wanted keep the plaque in her room through Fall AND Winter.
Deciding on the background color for the plaque was easy….we’d go with a simple crisp white that would go well with the other white accents in her room. It was figuring out the color for those darn letters!!!! Well, after some trial and error with different shades of gold paint, she ended up using brown Sharpie markers for the letters, and I think the brown on white was the PERFECT combination:
I’m loving the plaque mixed on the shelf with the cute white owl candle holder (from Bath and Body Works) and the DIY Starbucks vase and flowers (from Week 30).
Our Fall fever didn’t quite end after this project, so check back next week to see some more Fall fun that made its way into Ashley’s room!
Ahhh Fall…just love it. Speaking of that, it’s time for me to go grab another PSL!
See ya next week,
