Ugh. I have somehow gotten behind on posting again so I’ll be posting the last few weeks of our creative projects over the next few days. So, here we go…
I’ve discovered recently that I have a serious love of white pumpkins (for decorating purposes, that is). I really love the white Boo pumpkins that we used in our entry way for Halloween, and after seeing bunches and bunches of white pumpkins and Fall decorating pics that I loved on Pinterest, I decided we needed some more white pumpkins in our house for Thanksgiving. Hello Week 44 activity!!!
Fortunately, once this bug struck, I was lucky enough to score several pumpkins on sale for 80% off at Michaels…Woohoo!!!.
As you can see, only one of them was white though, so out came the white paint and brushes!!! I ended up using some Benjamin Moore paint that we use on the trim in our house. Probably not the most cost effective use for BM paint, but hey, it was convenient. Plus I figured 5 little pumpkins with a couple of coats of paint wouldn’t make that big of a dent in our paint supply.
Except for this little guy that was originally red. He ended up needing 3 coats.
After the painting was done, it was on to the fun part. First I made this arrangement for our dining room (thanks to Shanty 2 Chic for the inspiration!!!):
And then it was on to the fireplace mantel…one pumpkin on each side:
You might recognize the hurricane vases. I use those our mantel a lot since it’s so easy to change them up for the seasons with seasonal potpourri, dried flowers, or whatever else I have on hand. The white frame is a new addition though…thanks to Michael’s and a 40% off coupon. I got the flowers from Michaels as well for 80% off, just like the pumpkins. I definitely scored at Michael’s at their post-Halloween sale. It definitely pays if you can be patient and wait for after-season sales. This isn’t the norm for me though. When the decorating or creating bug strikes me, I tend to buy what I need, sale or no sale… I think it just comes down to a time thing since our chance to work on our DIYs and crafts is so limited.
Anyway… I am happy to have these cute little white pumpkins as our guests for Thanksgiving. Ahhhh, it’s definitely love!!!
