Riddle Me This

Riddle Me This

Hey everybody!  I know it’s been a couple of weeks since my last post.    The day job has been kicking my b$tt these last couple of weeks, and then to top things off, I caught a cold about a week or so ago that really got the best of me.    I even had to put my Bird a Day drawings on hold for a bit, which I can assure you did not make me happy.   But sometimes that’s just the way it goes.  Like I posted  a few posts back, maintaining your creativity can sometimes only consist of micro-movements, and perhaps even moments of NO movement.

At first I used to get so frustrated and bent out of shape about not having enough creative time in the midst of this busy life.    But, there are bills to pay and family to care for and those things are important too.  That doesn’t mean the creative life isn’t worth pursuing…it just means that you have to be flexible, and most of all, patient.  So I continue to plug away on growing my flexibility and patience, and also searching for more and more ways to be creative in simple, quick ways.  Here’s what I came up with this week….

When Ashley is at her dad’s house or away at a sleepover, I always send her texts to just check in, say goodnight, or whatever.   I’ve found that lately she really responds to humor and so I wracked my brain on how to replace my  generic “what’s up?” or “how was your day?” texts with something more funny and out of the ordinary.  So.. the other night I decided to text her a riddle.   I knew that she would think this was the cheesiest, strangest thing ever.  But I also knew it would get her attention, whether she wanted to admit it or not.

So here’s the riddle I sent her:
croppedriddle1

As you can see, her reaction was exactly as I predicted….she was a little confused, and even slightly annoyed:
croppedriddle2

But it got  her immediate attention because she texted me right back, and when we talked about it in the car the next day, she started totally laughing about it even though she said it was “strange.”

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.

So I’m going to continue to send her text riddles.  Even if she thinks they’re strange.  Because who doesn’t like a good riddle?!

Here’s a great website for riddles in case you’d like to try some out as well.

See ya next time!
