As the Christmas season draws to an end and the New Year approaches, I’ve been thinking a lot about believing, and I made this card for a friend:
This friend is battling cancer and I wanted him and his wife to focus on believing….believing that that they will conquer their battle. As a cancer survivor myself, I know holding that belief is absolutely crucial in winning the battle against this dreaded disease.
I got the idea for the Believe card from the movie Polar Express that we watched over the Christmas holiday. There are so many great quotes from that movie about Belief, like when the Conductor says: “Seeing is believing, but sometimes the most real things in the world are the things we can’t see.” When fighting cancer…you have to believe that all the good cells in your body will beat those horrific cancer cells. And both the good and bad cells in our bodies are very, very real though we can’t see them at all.
I also thought about another Belief quote from the movie when the little boy describes the bell and says, “Even Sarah found one Christmas that she could no longer hear its sweet sound. Though I’ve grown old the bell still rings for me, as it does for all who truly believe.”
It’s so easy to lose faith as we grow older, become jaded, or lose our sense of wonder. We lose the ability to hear the bell…to believe in the wondrous things that our minds, imaginations and bodies are capable of.
So as we begin this New Year, I hope that we can all continue to have faith and BELIEVE in the truly amazing things that are possible, and let’s not forget what Henry Ford said, “Whether you think you can or think you can’t, you’re right.”
And if someone you know is struggling with anything right now, feel free to print out this pdf and write them a message to not give up and to keep on believing: Believe Printable 8.5×5.5
Don’t stop believing, my friends…
