Well, hello friends! I’m writing this post at 4minutes past midnight on Nov 26th…so Happy Thanksgiving!!! And in the spirit of thankfulness, I am indeed thankful for many things, but on this particular day, I’m feeling VERY glad and thankful to have FINALLY moved into my spiral bound Kikki K planner!!!
Even though it’s taken me several months to do so, I think it was serendipitous that I ended up finally moving into my planner in November, because Fall is my favorite season and so I had a blast decorating the planner in all it’s Fall splendor:
If you’ve read any of my previous posts lately, you probably noticed me mentioning that I’ve been all caught up in the Creative Planner Craze. Now that you’ve seen the photo above, you know I wasn’t kidding about that, right? Yup, I am definitely a Planner Nerd now, there is no doubt about it.
I think one of the reasons I love creative planning so much is that it combines two things that I really need in my life right now — planning/organization and creativity. I mean, if you’ve gotta make To Do Lists, goals, and schedules, while not add a little glitter and stickers to the mix while you’re at it?
Or one of the coolest things in the world, a PenGems pen?!:
Creative planning also allows me to use up all the fun stationary and craft supplies that I’ve been hoarding for the past few weeks. Well….actually it’s more like the past few years. Okay, SEVERAL years. I’ll talk some more about how I put all those supplies to use in just a bit.
First off, let’s talk about the planner itself…The planner I’m using is a 6-ring A5 size planner from Kikki K. I purchased this gold one from Ebay because it’s no longer sold by Kikki K. Don’t you fret though, if you like the gold too, there are lots of other gold planners out there from other companies, as well as individuals on Ebay and Etsy. Also, Kikki releases new planners all the time and I have a sneaky suspicion they’ll be releasing another gold one soon.
I can’t say enough good things about this Kikki K planner. The leather cover is a really good quality, and the rings are also very well made. The rings about 1 1/2″ in diameter, which means you can fit a lot more in your planner, and I can assure you that I’ll be stuffing mine pretty full in no time.
Now as far as inserts go, I’m using the Daisy Day Cocoa Daisy inserts that I purchased online from Cocoa Daisy. The inserts are released monthly and can be purchased one-time or through subscription. Each month has a different theme and I absolutely love that the theme changes because it’s great fun creatively coming up with different ways to decorate the pages using the new theme each month. (The pages are so beautiful though that you don’t really need to decorate them, which is really handy during those busy times that you don’t have time to decorate.)
I’ll do a detailed post of my Cocoa Daisy inserts in a few days…so check back soon for more on that.
As I mentioned above, I used supplies I had on hand to make most of the things in my setup, and one of those was craft paper. I’m a huge fan of craft paper, I mean HUGE. My Fall setup was a perfect excuse to incorporate the craft paper, and I used it every chance I could throughout my setup.
One of the first things I made was the Gratitude list page using one of the pages in the Cocoa Daisy November set. Since I was going with a Thanksgiving gratitude theme in my setup, I thought it would be perfect slipped inside the planner pocket after I attached it to some scrapbook paper.
I used my Ek cutter to cut out the geometric flags from various scrapbook paper sets. Then I punched the circles from craft paper, wrote all the things I am most grateful for in my life, and taped the circle cutouts to the page.
I also used craft paper for this little quote card that I stuck inside another pocket. I really love this quote byDavid Steindl-Rast:
To make this card, I taped craft paper to this lovely Paper House scrapbook paper and then topped it off with the cute frame from the Simple Stories Snap line. And then using MY FAVORITE PEN IN THE WHOLE WORLD (Uniball Signo white gel pen), I wrote out the quote. I’m really happy to have found these Snap frames because they’re the perfect size for that little space above the pocket, so I have a feeling I’ll be using them a lot to make things for that area.
I also made several paper clips made using things from my craft room or purchased from craft stores.
This cute little burlap bow was from Michael’s. I just sandwiched a paper clip between the bow and some fabric and adhered everything with my glue gun. I also had some little flowers and leaves on hand and used the same process for those.
For the little bird clip, I used a bird cut-out that I think I found several months ago from the dollar bins at Michael. To make a backing, I just traced out a piece from scrapbook paper and then glued everything together with the glue gun. Also glued on a little green rhinestone from Michael’s.
Now the best for last…my lovely gold owl! I’ve been saving this little guy for quite some time…he came from a thank you card that someone gave me and I’ve been keeping him in a safe place ever since. I love love LOVE owls so I’ve just been waiting for the perfect opportunity to display him and I’m so happy that he fits perfectly in the top pocket of my planner.
He makes me smile whenever I see him!!!
I’ll have lots more to show how on the inside of my planner but we’ll get around to that really soon, I promise.
In the meantime, I’m so happy to finally be all moved in so nice and cozy into my Kikki, and like I mentioned above, am really happy that I got to use this Fall theme to kick things off.
I’m also so grateful to have found this wonderful Planner community and all things Planners, and I hope that I gave you a few good ideas for your planners.
Happy Thanksgiving to you all and remember…”it’s not happiness that makes us grateful, it’s gratefulness that makes us happy”!
